Foghorn Coffee
About This Spot
Nestled near the gentle bustle of San Francisco’s North Point Street, Foghorn Coffee offers more than just a quick stop for your morning caffeine fix — it’s a quiet pause in the rhythm of the city, where moments linger over thoughtfully prepared drinks. This tea house invites you in with warm, approachable vibes, a soft hum of conversation, and a welcoming pace that encourages you to slowly wake up and savor the day, whether you’re just starting your walk to nearby Pier 39 or taking a thoughtful break from exploring the waterfront.
Inside, the space feels inviting yet unpretentious, the kind of spot where a well-steamed latte or a creamy chai tea latte warms your hands while you watch baristas work with gentle care behind the counter. There's a deliberate comfort here — an understanding that a cup of tea or coffee is not just about flavor but the small human moments they inspire. The menu isn’t flashy but thoughtfully curated, with options like an unexpected London Fog or an Italian soda, each crafted to suit the quiet rhythms of the day.
Foghorn Coffee’s atmosphere is especially suited to those who appreciate a slower, steadier pace. It’s a place where locals pop in for a dependable, skillfully made drink, catching that perfect balance between boldness and smoothness that feels honest and familiar. While the space is lively enough to feel connected to the neighborhood’s pulse, it never rushes you, honoring instead the calm that exists between the city’s brisk steps and the bay’s open air.
For those who find themselves wandering this part of San Francisco early or looking for a welcoming spot that goes beyond the usual, Foghorn Coffee quietly stands out. Here, each cup offers a small, steadying moment — where the care in preparation and the subtle warmth of a shared space come together to restore a bit of calm amid the city’s soundtrack.

The chocolate + croissant experience was absolutely amazing I can’t even describe it, my soul returned to my body, the barista was a girl, did a good job.

Ordered a flat white. Coffee was bold and flavorful. Milk could have been frothed a little more for texture and heat. Great location by Ghirardelli

Ordered lattes and Italian soda. My sister and mother enjoyed the latte. They said the milk was steamed to perfection. I asked for cream in my Italian soda but she said they don't do that. I was disappointed.

Much better coffee options then inside Ghirardelli. They had more milk alternatives and sugar free flavor. It was not the best but decent and a much better option for the area. I recommend it over the coffee inside. The barista is more skilled as well.

We started walking to Pier 39 early in the morning, and this was one of the only places open for coffee. I ordered a latte, and it was probably the one of the best I've had. I'm actually really surprised to see the ratings are not higher than what they are. And the location is perfect. You can stroll around the square then head over to Pier 39.

Went here regularly for coffees and hot Chocolates for the family whilst staying at the Fairmont Ghirardelli in January. Fantastic drinks, lots of different milks (we had oat), and fantastic service from the Amazing Kevin! What a legend Kevin is!
